G'day and Welcome to Aussie Detectorist, Metal Detecting and Prospecting Supply Company.

My name is Justin Cleghorn or 'Clegy' as I am probably better known in prospecting and Metal detecting circles.

I started the Aussie detectorist business in 2015 for a bit of fun and because, at the time, you couldn't buy the metal detector I wanted in Australia.

No way did I ever think this would be my Full time gig, so to all the people that I have met over the last 7+ years and 350,000+ Km's. Thankyou.

The business was founded on a Philosophy of participation. What I mean is the business grew by both participating in Others events and also holding some of our own. You may Have heard of the Metal Detecting WORLD Championship, That is our Flagship event of the year.

But also by Participating in the Campfires, campouts, meet ups and occasional Pub trip that go with these events. It has been amazing to actually hang out with many of you in the bush and get to know the people that allow you to do what you do.

So when I opened a Retail shop in Newcastle, we added another word to our Philosophy  PARTICIPATION.

That New word is EDUCATION.

So Now not only do we participate in the hobby of metal detecting, prospecting and gold panning/sluicing, we try and EDUCATE along the way as well.

It's amazing how often a small tid bit on a group camp trip can change someone's prospecting. Or an off the cuff comment over a schooner at the local can help a coin shooter go next level.

So in the shop, out and about in the field or on our private meetups, we at Aussie detectorist are always trying to help you get more from your chosen hobby.

Now you'll notice I changed from using the term 'I' as in Me Clegy, and changed to a WE about halfway up the page.

That's because the Aussie Detectorist now has other people on board that share my passion for having people in the right gear and then having the confidence to go out and use that gear.

So Now Aussie Detectorist is a TEAM and Not just little old me driving around yelling out the window a lot.

It's a dedicated team of 3 prospectors, detectorists and just plain nice people.
